Consumer Reports (subscription required) rates has updated its ratings of digital cameras.

For advanced Single Lens Reflex cameras (SLRs), they recommend the

Nikon D300,

Canon EOS 40D, and

Olympus E-3.

Among the recommended models in various categories of point-and-shoot cameras are the

Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS,

Canon PowerShot A470,

Canon PowerShot G10,

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS,

Samsung HZ10W, and

Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR.

Consumer Reports Rates the Best Gas Grills (Weber Genesis, Vermont Castings, Fiesta Blue Ember).

The July 2009 issue of Consumer Reports (subscription required) rates the best gas grills.

The top-rated ones are the Weber Genesis E-320 Grill and the Vermont Castings Signature Series Grill.

The best buy is the Fiesta Blue Ember Grill (FG50069-U409), available at Home Depot.

Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB External Hard Drive on Sale; Cavalry CAUM 1 TB External Hard Drive also reasonably priced.

External hard drives continue to drop in price. The one I use, the Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB, works wonderfully and backs up my laptops quickly. It is on sale for $80.

If you want to go even bigger than 500 GB, I’ve heard that the Cavalry Storage CAUM Series 1 TB External Hard Drive (CAUM3701T0) is nice for just over $100.

Bargain Price: HP Pavilion DV4-1227US.
